It is possible for a person to relapse after they have successfully overcame their speech disorder. They may experience a lack of control with their stuttering to a certain point. There are several reasons as to why relapses can occur:
A person that has relapsed doesn’t have to start from scratch, but they do need to put back in place the techniques they learned to overcome this speech disorder. They must start focusing and practicing again and be consistent about doing it. They must also learn to control their emotions in certain situations and not let it get the best of them. They should also learn not to get upset if there are things that are out of their control, especially under duress or extreme stressful situations.
